Kriti Sanon, born on 27 July 1990 joined the Indian film industry in the year 2014, making her debut with the movie ‘Heropanti’ opposite actor Tiger Shroff. It was the debut movie of the star kid, Tiger Shroff too. The movie did fairly well and both the actors were noticed for their screen presence and mature acting abilities. With tall and lean frames and a palpable reel camaraderie, they looked like the perfect on-screen couple. With her first movie itself, Kriti Sanon marked her presence amongst her audiences and gave people reason enough to look forward to more appearances of the actress. Over the years, she has done quite many movies, both as a lead actor and as part of an ensemble cast. Her growth trajectory has been fairly successful and she has pleased her directors and producers as well as her massive fan following as on date. The actress has exhibited such a mature hold over her craft that she seems enabled enough to deliver both a light-hearted entertaining performance as well as an emotionally surcharged intense scene with equal finesse.
Her recent superlative performance in the OTT-released movie ‘Mimi’ has catapulted the actress back into the limelight. With the success of ‘Mimi’, the industry production houses are considering her a safe bet to play in their money. Having led the movie on her shoulders, she has established her credibility as a bankable star capable of shouldering a stellar performance and driving the project all the way to success.
We love the actress not only for her screen roles but also for her inimitable gym and airport looks. She is often seen with her sister Nupur Sanon, who is also a popular face in the movie and music. With a frame as tall as 5’10 inches, Kriti Sanon is every clothing brand and designer’s vision of a muse. The actress recently turned one for the Manish Malhotra bridal collection ‘Nooraniyat’ and we must admit, as hard as it was to take eyes off the resplendent couture collection, it was equally tough to focus away from her striking visage. We can only fathom what a stunning bride she would make of herself when she actually walks the aisle on her real wedding day, someday.
Below we share some of the finest Kriti Sanon movies that you must get to watching ASAP, lest you wish to miss out on some superb entertaining content.
Kriti Sanon Movies That Are Some of Her Best Performances to Date
Let’s talk about her most recent outing ‘MIMI’ that released on the OTT platform ‘Netflix’ in July 2021. Kriti played the role of an aspiring actress from a small town who has dreams of making it big in the acting arena. She performs a lot in plays and dramas in her hometown and is in need of some big bucks to travel to the big city and try out her luck. As fate would have it, she gets introduced to an American couple by Bhanu (played by Pankaj Tripathi) who are on a trip to India to look for a surrogate for their child. The offer of 20 lakhs from their end sounds too good to be refused and hence, Kriti’s character Mimi gives in to the temptation. The story takes an interesting turn when the couple refuses to take the onus of the unborn child and asks Mimi to abort it. Without any explanation from their end, the couple abandons and leaves for the US. The character OF Kriti Sanon then takes the bold step to keep the child and raise it on her own.
Though the subject is grave, the screenplay is quite light-hearted, seamless and amusing. Even the intense nuances of the emotions have been handled in a very effortless way. Can’t deny, it can only be innate and evolved acting talent that can make an actor deliver such a superlative performance. The movie also stars critically acclaimed actors like Pankaj Tripathi, Supriya Pathak, Manoj Pahwa and Sai Tamhankar, but it is Kriti Sanon who bagged the majority of the limelight.
A few other light-hearted Kriti Sanon movies that would make a very entertaining piece of content to watch are Luka Chuppi (2019), Housefull 4 (2019), Arjun Patiala (2019) and Bareilly ki Barfi (2017). Out of these, Housefull 4 had a madhouse of an ensemble cast with some of the most entertaining and talented actors from the industry like Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh and Bobby Deol. Kriti Sanon played one of the female leads paired opposite Akshay Kumar along with actors Pooja Hegde and Kriti Kharbanda paired opposite Riteish Deshmukh and Bobby Deol respectively. The movie is a laugh riot of sorts and whenever you want to watch something easy-on-the-mind with low overtures of sense and logic, this is the movie to watch. Not one of Kriti Sanon’s finest performances, but the actress delivered what the movie intended her to.
With Kartik Aryan and Kriti Sanon as the lead pair, the movie Luka Chuppi, released in 2019 did a fairly good job. The movie is highly entertaining and is going to have you in splits. Grab a popcorn tub, pasta or a pizza or some fries with hummus and get on to watching this light-hearted movie. It is about a couple who is in a live-in relationship and how their entire relationship turns upside down once their families get involved. Again, a stellar performance from the actress and it must definitely be on your list of ‘must-watch Kriti Sanon movies’.
Though Heropanti was Kriti’s first movie and did get her rave reviews from both the critics and audiences, it was the movie ‘Bareilly ki Barfi’ that was released in 2017, that really raised the stature of the actress. Her performance was widely applauded and the movie made a great success at the box office. Apart from Kriti, the movie also boasted of superlative talent like Ayushmann Khurrana, Rajkumar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi and Seema Pahwa. If you still haven’t watched this ‘fun-as-a-joy-ride’ movie, do put it on your to-do list ASAP. It would not just entertain you, but also relax and soothe your ‘tired-from-all-the-pandemic-fatigue’ mind. Such movies are actually some sort of entertainment therapists that alleviates dreariness and relax our senses.
Though the movie ‘Panipat’ failed to garner any box office success or rake in any moolah, Kriti Sanon’s performance was much appreciated by the critics. That is the bearing of a great actor – their talent remains consistent and unscathed in each of their performances, no matter how the movie fares in other aspects.
Though her repertoire of work is impressive, it’s been only a few years of her in the industry. With movie halls opening up partially and scope for some great content being streamed on online platforms, we can’t wait to see more of Kriti Sanon movies in the coming future. If the grapevine is to be believed, her movies ‘Adipurush’, ‘Bhediya’ and ‘Bachchan Pandey’ are slated for 2022 release. We are already excited with hope so are you!
