FRUIT Inspired EYE MAKE UP LOOKS You Must Try This Season
If you have an observant eye for fashion and like to keep an ‘all that’s going on’ tab on Fashion Weeks around the globe, you must have realized by now that futuristic fashion is the calling of the day. Fashion today is far more futuristic in its approach and is more forward looking and accepting and accommodating, than it has ever been before. People are not shying away from trying new trends. As soon as it is on the runway, it’s there in stores and almost selling like hot cakes and people warmly embracing the most experimental of trends as well, in fact even pushing themselves out of their comfort zones.
The same goes for makeup trends too. No sooner has a look been noticed on a ramp, it grabs eyeballs, features in a couple of magazines, sported by celebrities on the red carpet and immediately you find the girl in your college, at the mall, at the wedding, wearing that make up look. And no sooner, it has become a rage. As much as clothes fascinate me, I have that little something for trying out some new makeup looks too.
Everyone these days is so open to new ideas, experiments and a unique way of looking at fashion. That thought process that trends and experiments are only good on the ramp and the magazines has long been redundant. No look is reserved only for the models or the celebrities. And neither is makeup left untouched of this new mindset of looking at beauty and fashion. Being from the industry, I have often myself been enthralled and fascinated by all the experimental makeup looks that artists have been creating all around. There are these supremely talented makeup artists at cult brands like Loreal Paris, Maybelline, M.A.C Cosmetics, Bobbi Brown, Lakme, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Estee Lauder Make Up, and so many more who have been creating some really interesting makeup looks for the ramp, especially the ones created for the International Fashion weeks.
Just try and notice the experimental makeup that is carried by those models along with the outfits, and just notice how gorgeous and jaw dropping the makeup is. You would definitely get some interesting ideas that you can pick up and try your hand at one or two of the tricks. Of course, initially the look would not come out that stunningly and exactly the same as what you have seen, but once you understand your face and features and which look suits you the best, you can definitely experiment more and master the art.
Creating some interesting eye makeup looks with FRUITS as an inspiration, has been on my wish list since some time now. I was a little apprehensive as I don’t have those big eyes with a lot of space for eyeshadows wherein you can play with colors and the whole effect comes out beautifully. My eyes are small and droopy and deeply set and overshadowed by a robust pair of brows. So, bringing out the right makeup look on my eyes can be quite tricky. For as long as I remember, my big lips have been the key feature on my face and I have always loved playing around with different lip shades to create diverse make up looks with just a tinge of black kohl for my eyes. But this time around, I decided why should I be biased against my eyes, they too deserved to be artfully done and experimented with. So I went ahead and created these two eye makeup looks keeping up with the trends.
The first look that we created was inspired by the fruit KIWI. The eyes were kept black Smokey with green undertones. Some light eyeshadow was applied to the upper lid to make the eyes look lighter. Then shades of dark brown and black to create that smokey effect, with some light-handed strokes of bottle green color at the sides. I don’t really do much of winged eyeliner (an area I really need to work upon), but this time, I did a double winged eyeliner with black and must say it came out beautifully. Winged eye liner does give your eyes an elongated shape and makes them look more spread out, rather than the usual liner which is more apt for bigger and fuller eyes. I actually played with two KIWI colors green and black in ample amounts. To make the look futuristic, I used green mascara on my eye lids. This makeup look is big right now and really make your eyes look edgy and adds color (must try!). Another trend that’s making a rage on International ramps is colored eyebrows. To achieve this look, we did a lot of green color on the brows, which made them look even thicker, and stylish too. I was a little apprehensive about trying this out, but after seeing the results, I am definitely trying out brighter and bolder colors next time like a poppy yellow, fuschia, neon pinks and oranges and maybe even silver white and glittery gold too.
For the second look, we took inspiration from the fruit ORANGE. The whole look was kept warm with an autumn-winter vibe to it. We played with a shade of maroon (complementing the outfit) and added lots of warm yellow as the eye shadow. Try not to keep your eye shadow color limited to one shade. Even if you are doing just one color, give variation by doing different hues of it. Maybe I missed out on the yellow color on the eyebrows, would have elevated the whole look to an altogether different level. (you must try it for sure!).
With the winter and wedding season around the corner, you must try out these futuristic eye makeup looks and grab some eyeballs. Don’t go too playful and throw in all the elements in one look. Just master your strokes at one skill at first, maybe a colored winged eyeliner, or just the colored eyebrows, else try out the colored mascara look. Just make sure that rest of the makeup is I sync with the whole look and doesn’t take away attention from the eyes. A few more fruits that you can probably try out are Watermelon, Grapes, Chiku, Rasberries, Blueberries, Avocado and many more. Just go all out, play with colors and have fun.
