Change of season doesn’t just call for the change of attire, but also alterations in our skin and hair care regimes. While summers are all about less makeup and more sunscreen, winters actually make our skin scream of hydration and nourishment from the top of the roofs. It is said our skin radiates and glows the best in winters and also do our hair. Winter season is the time when our hair grows the most. But all this comes with loads of hard work. As there are no free lunches in this world, so goes for our skin and hair. Though being genetically blessed is one thing, still the best skin and hair come to those who work the hardest for them. Winter makeup is quite on the contrasting tangent as to the summer makeup. We have decoded some of the most striking changes that you can make to your makeup look, to grab compliments galore for your makeup this winter season.
1. HYDRATE YOUR SKIN LIKE A FANATIC
Yes, though this is not a makeup ritual, still it is imperative to include this in every winter makeup or skin post. Moisturize and hydrate your skin like a mad person in winters. Give it as much hydration as possible. Use a lot of Vitamin C and Hydraulic Acid enriched Serums, intensely hydrating moisturizers as well as a lot of facial oils. The chilled winds of the winter make your skin thirsty and craving for all this nourishment. Drink gallons of water to keep your system hydrated internally. The same will reflect well in the health of your hair and skin.
2. PUT A STRONG MAKEUP BASE IN THE WINTERS
Summers are sweaty and our oil glands in the skin secrete enough oil and sweat to keep it moisturized. A thick makeup base just complicates the situation further and makes the pores clogged and greasy. Winters is the best time to flaunt that flawless air brushed makeup look. Put a natural primer, a concealer and then a light weight but effective foundation to give you that naturally radiant, illuminated flawless skin look. Finish with a face powder to settle everything in place. You can use both the matt finish as well as shimmer finish bases to create your winter makeup look.
3. ADD A FEW DROPS OF YOUR SERUM OR HIGHLIGHTER TO YOUR FOUNDATION
Well, this hack works like magic in winters to take your make up look from wow to drop dead. Do not overdo. Just a drop or two and it will give a very natural radiant look to your entire face. You can also go easy with the rest of the makeup like blush on and eyes if your skin itself is glowing naturally. Vaseline can also be a good alternative for this hack.
4. OPT FOR BOLD LIPS MORE OFTEN IN WINTERS
Winters are favored by a lot more people than summers for the endless food options as well as dressing options that come along with the season. And so is the love for Winter Makeup. Wear strong lips more often in winters. Give priority to lip shades like plum, deep red, fushcia pink, maroon, mauve, deep brown, burnt orange in your vanity kit. Keep the eyes wide open and lashed long and well defined by adding lots of mascara and maybe that cascading winged eyeliner. For the eyes, you can also try the two colored eye liner to create a dramatic look or play with a lot of eye shadow colors in your palette. Winter is the season to go all bold and make a statement.
5. GO BIG ON THE GLOSS, SHIMMER AND HIGHLIGHTER
Winter is the season of party and Christmas and New Year festivities. The whole world is celebrating. For this party season, do not think twice before adding that extra stroke of highlighter or shimmer. Use gold or silver shimmer on eyes. Gold and Mauve is one of the best Winter Makeup combination. Use that highlighter to light up your cheek bones and add a dash of glam to your look. Not just the face, also add highlights and liquid shimmer on your body. You can also use natural or illuminating body oils for this.
6. USE LOTS OF CREAMY FACE BLUSH AND STAIN TINTS
In the day, keep your makeup natural. That peach and creamy winter complexion has a charm of its own. If your skin is hydrated well enough, it would shine ell under the sun. Use a lot of tint to give that naturally flushed out look to your cheeks and lips. Keep the rest of the makeup minimal.
Winters are the best season to eat, dress up and make merry with your friends and family. Do not be scared to experiment. Try out something new each time. As the year ends and new one begins, it is time to make some positive changes to your life and to your makeup looks as well.
